My Instagram Round-up for April

I’ve seen a lot of fashion bloggers post Instagram round ups on their blogs and thought that’s a great idea! I don’t fully consider myself a fashion blogger but more of a mom style blogger. I love to stay on trend but I usually tone it down a bit to fit my every day mom style. That being said, here’s my Instagram outfits for the month of April!

Joggers {wearing size small} // Striped top // Sneakers // Jean Jacket {similar} // Hat {similar} // Sunnies

I call this the “8am soccer mom” look. These total on trend joggers are this moms favorite! Besides the comfort it brings to early morning soccer games I also like to rock them all week when dropping the kids off at school! A good pair of sneakers is also a must when pushing a stroller up a soccer field. The jean jacket is a classic that never goes out of style! This look wouldn’t be me without stripes! The ball cap and sunnies are perfect for hiding my mom of three raccoon eyes for both early A.M. Soccer games and school drop offs.

Tee {wearing a medium} // Jeans // Shoes // Bag // Hat {similar} // Sunnies // Watch

This one I’m calling the “grocery run” because I was rocking it during a solo grocery trip. What mom doesn’t love trips to the store without the kids? I’d prefer it to be Target but hey, I’ll take what I can get. Now I’ll admit I’m usually a fan of American Eagle jeans and I only buy them when they are doing the BOGO 50% off, but after almost a year of scrolling through my Instagram feed and seeing other stylin’ moms wearing these babies, and dropping weight, by that I mean giving birth, I decided to spend the money and get these ripped jeans. They did not disappoint, I wear them pretty much everyday; even when I’ve spilt breast milk on them. The Adidas All-Stars! Man, do they bring me back to the good ole’ days of teenage drama and insecurities…No, but seriously I’m so glad they are back in style I love rocking them again! Once again we’ve got the stripes, hat and sunnies because well it’s what I like. This purse stays hung by the door, so when I do get to go solo and don’t want to be drug down by the weight of everything in my diaper bag I can just throw my wallet and keys in it and run out the door, literally before my husband changes his mind about taking care of the kids by himself. J/k he’s happy to do it…well at least I think he is.

Tee {similar} // Shoes // Sunnies // Watch // Jeans {size up!}

This look was my “I hope a tornado doesn’t hit the house” outfit. Right after I put this look together me and babe sat in the safest room in the house, the down stairs bathroom, while sirens went off. Another pair of great ripped jeans that are, surprise! American Eagle! They are high-waisted so great for my postpartum belly but you definitely need to size up. Which isn’t so great for my postpartum self-esteem but they are still great jeans and I’m diggin’ ’em. Rose gold mirrored shades are totally in this Spring/Summer I’m so glad I have these babies I picked up last summer. Who else is guilty of using watches more like an accessory to an outfit then using them to actually tell the time? Ya, and the Jord wooden watch is great to add to a casual look. When I’m not wearing stripes I’m a total fan of graphic tees especially ones that represent me, this one screams Amanda.

Dress {this print no longer available} // Sandals // Watch // Sunnies

Here I’ve got my “finally giving into the fact that I live in a very hot climate and sometime dresses are the most practical look” look. You can’t beat a good Old Navy sale and so I picked out this gem of a dress during a 50% off sale, which I’m sure will still be going on once I post this. These are my go-to sunnies they are my only polarized ones…. Did you know they are way better for your eyes than regular plain sunglasses? I’m not going to get into it but ya you should totally Google it. These sandals are from Target need I say more.

Top // Jeans // Sandals // Watch

A mash-up of pieces I’ve already mentioned plus this cute ruffles top that once again I snagged during an Old Navy sale. The ruffle trend is a great away to feel girly while rocking those growing biceps you get from lugging around a 30lb car seat.

Jeans // Top // Tote // Sandals // Watch // Sunnies

Last but not least my “black ripped jeans” look. The jeans are from American Eagle, Hello BOGO?!? The top of course is stripes but it’s a cute peplum top which is totally in and hides that extra tummy skin I’m working with right now. The bag you saw in my post that I’m using it as my diaper bag and love it!
Well there you have it! My Instagram round-up! Here’s to next month and trying not to wear stripes EVERYday……

*I’ll be doing a separate post all about my beach vacation looks.*

How I get baby to sleep all night.

img_3741

Please note that I am not an expert in sleep training babies. I do not co-sleep. Also, I may just have been blessed with babes that like to sleep, and last but not least, every night can be a total hit or miss.

Now that all of that has been put out there I wanted to write a blog post about what I have done to get all three of my kids to sleep most of the night early on.

Ever since Adalynn was born I’ve believed in giving babies and kids a good daily routine especially when it comes to bedtime. Once babe is home from the hospital and we are settled in after the family visits, getting that milk supply in and somewhat regular breastfeeding is happening our daily routine starts.

First things first, pick a bedtime. It’s not necessarily when you want babe to be asleep but a time you just want baby to be to bed. No matter when babe woke up from their last nap put them to bed every night at the same time. Now like I said, doing this doesn’t mean they will fall asleep immediately but they learn this is bedtime.

With the girls part of our bedtime routine was a bath. With three kids it’s just gotten tough having that time every evening so Max gets a bath every other night but still, it’s only right before bed and not any other time of the day. It’s an adjustment to our previous routines but it’s still routine.

Once again no matter babe’s last feeding I always try and feed them one last time to get that little tummy nice and full. I do that after bath time and putting baby in jammies. I do the feeding quietly in their nursery even if baby is still sleeping in my room because it’s usually the most quiet peaceful place in the house.

Now this I think is truly the key to teaching babe that it’s bedtime and not just nap time. We only swaddle at night! During the day when baby naps we never swaddle. With the girls I just used the easy Velcro swaddles like these and that’s what I started out using with Max but he grew out of them super fast and we had to put him in a good ole’ fashion swaddle blanket which is good if that’s what you have and like. Max was getting out of them too easy though so I went on a search and found Star Sack. I contacted the owner to give it a try and let me tell you it’s a game changer!! It helps when the basic swaddle gets too small and or baby gets too strong and easily busts out of the traditional swaddle folds.

Another thing we’ve added since Max is a mobile! We use this one, it gives baby entertainment while they slowly drift to sleep. We have a video monitor and watch him lay in his crib for an hour quietly before falling asleep so I truly think the mobile works!

Like I said most nights this has worked for us but there are times babe still gets up. When they do, unless they’ve pooped, I don’t take them out of the swaddle! I just let them eat and immediately but them back in their bed.

Give this a try and good luck! May peaceful nights be in your near future.

The Middle Child

The middle child!

My little Emily D is super excited to be getting a baby brother, she tells any one who will listen all about it. Everyday I get asked if he’s coming out yet and that she’s going to give him a bunch of kisses.

I don’t know if it’s the age gap or personality or maybe a bit of both but when I was pregnant with Emily my oldest Adalynn was barely two when she was born and she never acknowledged I was pregnant. Once Emily was born it was just like meh, mom has a baby now. So to be getting this type of excitement this time around makes me that much more excited.

Little does Emily know this will put her in the middle child category. I don’t know if and how it will change her, she has been the baby for four years! Right now the only thing I predict is though these days she likes doing things on her own and likes to refer to herself as a big girl even though she still expects help with things like eating and she is quick to act helpless when it suits her, so that part may get worse when she’s feeling left out because of the baby.

I was told by a fellow mom that switching from one to two kids was actually harder than two to three because the first two start helping each other out more and playing well because they realize that all they’ve got is each other when mom is busy with baby. I’m fingers crossed that’s how it works out for me.

As a family we can’t be more thrilled to be adding a boy to the mix! With that, I’m not going to be intimidated by all those boy moms out there telling me dressing a boy isn’t as fun as a girl because girls just have cuter stuff! I believe that is entirely not true and I’m kinda over the hot pink tutus!

One thing I’m loving on lil ones are the Freshly Picked moccasins! They are super cute and I heard from friends they are made to last! I’ve received a pair for baby boy that are oh so cute and can’t wait to put on his little baby feet and I also got a super cute pair for Emily so she can rock out and match little bro. She’s been wearing them non stop since I received them and on a four year old they really are durable!

I’m super in love with these moccasins that I’m doing a giveaway on any pair of your choosing over on my Instagram! Also Freshly Picked is having a Black Tuesday sale on November 22 starting 10am MST that lasts 24 hrs and offers 25% off the entire site! This sale only comes around twice a year!!

Emily’s Here & Baby Boy’s Here

Pregnancy and Fashion

I mentioned I was going to do maternity wear posts and then I fell off the map with that one!
Sorry ladies,
As a blogger I follow a lot of other bloggers and honestly find myself intimidated by their awesome mom style and being able to style the bump so well.
Pregnancy is not my forte, I’m pretty self-conscious during the nine months of growing a human.
It’s hard to explain, maybe other ladies like myself will understand the whole imagine issue but I’ll try my best to explain. I often see the latest season trend on a woman of my size pre-pregnancy and for some reason, unbeknownst to me, I go off and try to wear that same look and then realize that ya umm… it’s not looking the same with big boobs and a growing belly. It just doesn’t fit right and of course I get down on myself.
Those body image issues are not a joke and definitely make you NOT feel like yourself during pregnancy.
I still want to give you some of my go to clothes and maternity wear I’ve found so far and what’s made me feel good during this pregnancy before it’s too late!

Now that it’s somewhat chilly here I’ve been able to sport this comfy pullover from a super cute maternity brand called Kimi & Kai. Totally my style and so versatile. I can dress it up with some cute booties and jeans or wear it super casual with my maternity leggings and sneakers!

Kimi & Kai also have some super cute dresses that I’ve been eying that are perfect for the up coming holidays! Be sure and check them out! Use discount code delightful20 for 20% off your purchase!!

It’s A BOY!

If you follow any of my social media you already know that babe number three is a boy!

image

My husband could not be more happy about the news. I on the other hand have been worried for years about having a third and being disappointed it was another girl and honestly now it’s bitter sweet. I’m in slight shock that we will now have a boy in the family, and it’s something I’m not use to, all I know is girls.

image

Now I’m not worried about all those things people say about boys; how they are tough and rough, they pee in your face as newborns and all that jazz. I’m the type that think how long is it ok to smother them with my hugs and kisses and cuddle them tight? How am I going to help raise a boy that will some day be a man that will be expected to support and raise his own family? Yes, I want my daughters to grow up and be successful, strong, independent woman but, call me old fashioned, I also know I want them to have that happily ever after with the man of their dreams that can and will support them as the two of them grow their own family someday.

Things are definitely going to be different now and I’m nervous, but it’s a good nervous. One thing that I do hear so much about boys is just how much they love their mamas and that makes this mamas heart super happy.

Here’s a video of the reveal, as you will see Emily was over the moon about finding out it was a boy. 😉
