A little back ground story first– So as you know this is my third pregnancy, well it wasn’t until almost a year after I had my second daughter that I started to focus on eating healthy and daily fitness. I was what you refer to as “skinny fat”. I’ve been pretty petite all my life but gained weight during pregnancy and then went back to my normal size afterword. I never paid much attention to what I ate and never worked out. Insert eye rolls.
Well I’m not that way anymore, I love physical fitness! My favorites are running outdoors and lifting weights. I’ve also gotten way healthier about what I eat, and when it comes to drinks all I’ll have is water, coffee and of course some delicious wine (when I’m not pregnant.)
Now with you knowing a little about that let me tell you that this pregnancy has reversed all that healthy eating, kicked it to the curb! Just the thought of drinking water makes me feel sick! My drink of choice is a coke a cola, something I gave up over three years ago but that seems to be all I’m wanting! Give me all the desserts and Taco Bell and let me skip the egg whites and chicken. I admit I do love fruit of all kinds right now but of course it’s full of sugar. Ugh! Before I was pregnant I always thought “this pregnancy I’m going to be one of those super healthy fit moms you see all over social media”. Yep, that hasn’t happened yet.
Hopefully I can turn things around though and get back on track now that I’m in my second trimester and the nausea has subsided. I really do want to stay healthy and not lose all that hard work and dedication I gave myself these past years! Now of course I don’t want to bust my butt with workouts or count calories, I just want to be healthy. My other pregnancies were in my 20’s and now that I’m in my 30’s and I want this body to last 30+ more years and let’s be honest, who knows what my metabolism will be like this go around, it may not be in my favor. :/ Here’s to continuing a happy pregnancy and adding healthy choices to these cravings of mine.
